Ian Jamie attended the Packaging Innovations Show at Olympia last week and listened to the discussion on the merits of compostable plastic, chaired by Jane Bevis (OPRL). The conclusion, I think, was that we had a system for the disposal of plastic waste and that was Recycling; Adding more systems (Composting, Digesting) would be confusing and divert vital resources away from our chosen route (Recycling). Compostables would need to be able to be recycled to be successful!?
